Winter is an ideal time to photograph the Milky Way because the skies are often very clear.

Such were the conditions when I arrived at Pensacola Beach around 4 am one beautiful morning. The skies were so clear you could make out the Milky Way with the naked eye.

Using my usual star shooting settings to capture this image and then processing the image with techniques learned over the years yielded an image I’m quite happy with!
